It will cost the federal government of Nigeria a total of 800 billion naira to pay 40 million BVN account holders a total of 20,000 Naira. Nigerians have been clamouring for the federal government of Nigeria to pay Nigerian citizens some money to help the citizens to cope properly during this Coronavirus pandemic which have plagued the country so far. Most state governments have made it mandatory for people to sit at home for some weeks. Some state governments have even gone ahead to instigate a total lockdown in their states.
During this Lockdown, people will not be able to work. So many Nigerians depend on their daily earnings to survive. If they don’t go out to work in a day, they won’t be able to fend for themselves and their families. Nigerians have been asking the federal government to pay them some money during this period.
It is estimated that it will cost the Nigerian government a total of 800 billion naira to pay a total of 40 Million BVN account holders 20,000 naira each. I am not sure that everyone will be paid. That is the main reason why the Nigerian government insists that it will only pay the poorest individuals in the country.
Hopefully, more people will be included in the list as time goes by. It is important for everyone to manage anything they have for now. We all pray that everyone will be paid eventually, but it seems rather unlikely for now. Those people who will surely get paid are the low income earners and the less privileged.
