Rats are those obnoxious creatures that can intrude in your home without being welcomed and turn everything literally into rubbish. For their survival, they require shelter, water and enough food and if your home provides these three things, it would be a tough task to get rid of these rodents.

Salt and detergent mixture is known to keep rats away from the area they like to frequent. The solution is equally a simple DIY project and it costs little.

All you need to do is, put on disposable gloves and combine 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar or powdered chocolate and mix together.

Add 3 Spoons of salt and detergent then mix very well. The sugar or chocolate will attract the rats and the salt and detergent will soon kill them after they have been consumed.

Fill some jar lids about half full with the rat bait and set the baited jar lids wherever you noticed rat droppings as the rats are most likely to return to these spots. Monitor the area for indications that the rats are gone and when you no longer spot new droppings, watch for dead rats

To get rid of rats using ammonia, you will need two spoons of detergent of your choice, a quarter glass of water and two cups of ammonia in a bowl. Mix all ingredients together and put it in a spray bottle. Spray it where rats apparently frequently appear. Rats cannot stand the smell of ammonia and hence, this remedy works perfectly and easily.
